didn't think people are, for the most part, ridiculous and I foresee no rampant exceptions occurring in the wide, wide world for most if not all values of time. Let the rant begin...
Firstly, why would you seriously say that you would not go to your daughter's wedding simply because there would be no priest there to marry you, no catholic priest at least (I'm not quite sure how a marry-ahge would work without a catholic priest as I have only ever been to catholic weddings; a product of my upbringing, I fear, as well as my general disdain for weddings).
There is no reason for it, no logical one at least. Why spurn your daughter simply because she is not a person 'of the Book'? It seems a silly thing not to want to attend the wedding of your daughter simply because of that reason. That's not very Christian of them, if you were to ask me. However, I'm a heathen so what would I know? I thought Christianity was all about 'loving thy neighbor as thyself because thy neighbor IS theyself' and having compassion because there but for the grace of God go you. Excellent philosophies to be sure, but apparently they aren't what Christianity is all about given my experience with many of that sect. In which case, shame on you.
Secondly, it is a sad....SAD day when I, the great and powerful Good Prudence, become the voice of reason. Concerning recent family drama, I feel sympathy for my little brother but reserve a healthy bit of disappointment with him as well. I hope that this is a wake up call for him.
As for the two other players in this drama, you are both adults and AS adults you should be capable of seeing the other side each others' story, one person in particular, instead of resorting to slinging words and going silent. This is because one of the people does not want to see the truth of the matter. It's far easier to blame the other person than look inside and see that perhaps it is in fact you that are the wrong one here, isn't it? And we all have to suffer because of your stupidity and the heavens forfend that anything be said that disagrees with your position.
Why can't we just say to ourselves "Ok, I know I'm angry right now but I am going to put that aside for now and listen and try to understand" and then....*fanfare* understand! How much better off we would be.
Post Script: Some day my posts will actually have some depth.
