Gods and peons part I: library classes

It is truly amazing how, by just having rudimentary knowledge about a subject, you can be a god among peons. I find myself in situations where this is proven over and over. However, when a god is shown how to do something simple by another god, the god watching just shrugs and hopefully says thank you. The watching god is not amazed by this display of "magic". So here in lies the question...Are you a god....or a peon?

That awkwardly brings me to my Access to Information class and how terrible it is. The information presented isn't so much itself terrible, although to me it's the kind of information that doesn't need much explaining. However, the discussions encouraged by the professor ARE terrible. Everyone has an opinion. Everyone thinks their opinion is special or profound or interesting and it is none of those things. I am not going to school to hear what my liberal-arts-major classmates think about things (as you can tell I have a harsh dislike of most liberal arts majors but a deserved dislike as I have met few that are of quality). All they do is state the obvious. They feel their opinion is worth something and they couldn't be more wrong. Perhaps Ford Prefect via Douglas Adams had it right, they keep talking for fear that their mouth will seize up.

Consequentially I do not try to say anything in that class. I just keep my head down and wait for 5:15 to arrive. This is a masters program. I thought I had left these types of people in the undergraduate programs. They are like bacteria, everywhere and just as annoying. Peons.

I can only hope that these are not the type of people I wind up working with when I enter the profession. I can barely suffer the dumb that poisons the air from patrons and don't think I could suffer it from coworkers as well. As I am told by many of those close to me, I have a low tolerance for stupidity.
